WFFC 2010 Charitable Contributions
Neptune, NJ - In these uncertain times, Women in Flavor & Fragrance Commerce (WFFC) continues to reach out and assist individuals both inside and outside its industry with charitable contributions.
The WFFC continues to support the Bottomless Closet. This year the WFFC held three clothing drives during its industry events including the January Business Meeting, the Woman of The Year Award Dinner and the WFFC Fall Seminar. In addition, the WFFC made a significant monetary donation to support Bottomless Closet’s efforts to provide interview skills, business clothing, and ongoing career development for the economically disadvantaged women in New York City.
In June 2010, the WFFC funded a loan for Kiva’s Las Mujercitas Trabajadoras (The Hard-Working Women) Group in the Mexican state of Puebla. Through microfinance, the WFFC loan will support women entrepreneurs to grow their retail businesses in the food and cosmetics industry in Mexico.
In August 2010, the WFFC Cincinnati chapter volunteered their time at Matthew 25: Ministries in Blue Ash, Ohio, an international humanitarian aid and disaster relief organization that provides basic necessities and skill development across the U.S. and worldwide. Volunteers were divided into three groups to sort donations including seasonal summer and winter children’s clothes, mix matched shoes, and bed linens.
At its renowned Twenty-Eighth Annual Open Dinner, the WFFC honored Benedicte Bron, Associate Vice President, Creative Fragrance for Beauty Avenues, a sourcing arm of Limited Brands. The WFFC made donations to United Way and Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the charities of Ms. Bron’s choice.
“The WFFC stands firm in its commitment to support women, within as well as outside our industry. We seek to give back to the community by contributing to charities, which provide various types of assistance, both in the U.S. and around the globe," says WFFC President Joanne Kennedy.
