On November 8th, the WFFC Chicago Chapter held their annual fall event at Café La Cave, in Des Plaines, IL, for a night of connections, conversations, and cocktails. To start the evening off, we greeted our guests with a special event cocktail entitled “By Any Other Name”, made with raspberries, elderflowers, rose water and Prosecco. We entered the ballroom, took our seats, shared a wonderful meal, and enjoyed a presentation by Jeff Underwood, a beverage expert for Kerry and our mixologist for the evening.
Jeff captured our attention as he discussed how to create a multi-sensorial experience through beverages. He explained how the cocktail market is expanding at a rapid pace and competition has created a demand for drinks that please the eye, the palate and stimulate the mind, by creating an emotional response. We charred wood with a blow torch to add flavor, mixed herbs and spices for their scent, and even sprayed a smoky aroma on our beverage, all to enhance our sensorial cocktail experience. Oh what a night!!!!
