Perfumer Recognition Award Recipient
Patty Hidalgo
Vice President Perfumer

IFF

Patty Hidalgo was born to a Cuban mother and a Spaniard father who exiled to
Spain from Cuba and eventually made their way to the United States. Raised on
the belief that hard work paves the way to limitless possibilities, Hidalgo began
work as a lab technician after college. As a lab technician she was intrigued by
the science and art of perfumery. She held various positions along the way
including QC Lab Manager, QA Director and through perseverance she was
promoted to perfumer trainee.

Patty had the opportunity to train alongside an acclaimed perfumer who
engaged her in the process of fragrance development and encouraged her
appreciation of perfumery. She discovered the art of perfumery by coincidence,
but today, she sees it as a craft that can instill emotions of dreams, optimism
and hope.

Patty has a diverse portfolio of fragrances created for both global and domestic
brands: LVMH, Estee Lauder, Coty, P&G, Escada , Victoria’s Secret, Bath &

She also produced the first Twitter Town Hall, where she nudged President Barack Obama to post his first Tweet with the initials “-B.O.”. She advised business development teams on acquisitions, experienced the company’s IPO and started Twitter’s internal LGBT group (“Twitter Open”) by pursuing community and organizing the queer identifying employees.

During her rise and popularity, she also had an extraordinary impact on popular culture. During her time as a Creator, she also had the privilege of working with brands like Fresh Beauty, Covergirl, Jo Malone London and Bare Minerals.

This introduction to perfumery while working in a marketing position, changed her fate
