When the Holidays come around, we think of the flavors; cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, chocolate, fruit jams and more! To celebrate these flavors that hold dear memories in our hearts, the New Jersey chapter of the WFFC held a private Holiday Cookie baking class. On December 13, 2016, attendees met at The Hudson Table in Hoboken, New Jersey. They were guided by three chefs to create traditional holiday cookies and a new twist on a classic. The cookies made were: thumbprint with a jam filling, shortbread, chewy ginger cookies, and gluten-free peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies. To conclude the evening, everyone took home the cookies they made in reusable canvas totes sponsored by M&U International and The Lermond Company, LLC.
In conjunction with the event, the WFFC hosted a Holiday Food Drive to support La Casa De Don Pedro in Newark, New Jersey. 10 bags of canned goods were donated at the Holiday Cookie event, combined with four boxes of goods collected at the site drop off locations throughout December. The WFFC was able to help supplement full meals for more than 160 working families. Grocery bags filled to the brim with ham or turkey, potatoes, beans, rice, holiday canned goods, fresh herbs and vegetables were distributed to Le Casa De Don Pedro families on December 16, 2016, in time for them to enjoy a fresh, home cooked holiday meal.
Thank you to the attendees, members and subscribers who donated food and thank you to our sponsors M&U International and The Lermond Company, LLC.
