    Maintenance Engineer - Bedoukian Research, Inc.

    Bedoukian Research, a manufacturer of flavor and fragrance ingredients and synthetic organics, has a full-time opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer at our Danbury, Connecticut Production facility.

    Responsibilities include; general maintenance of steam boilers, HVAC, refrigeration chillers and air compressors. Inspection and general maintenance on building systems. Operating a forklift and other heavy machinery. Experience with control systems a plus.  

    This position requires a high school diploma or its equivalent and 4-6 years of related experience.

    Reactor Room Chemist Level I

    Danbury, CT

    We Offer...

    An exciting role as Second Shift Reactor Room Chemist Level I, based in Danbury, Connecticut.

    This function provides processing operations related to production of organic chemicals using synthetic chemical methods and related support systems. This involves a range of activities including:  

    ·        Sets up and adjusts chemical production equipment. Operates heating, cooling, and vacuum and pressure systems.

    ·        Transports, weighs, mixes, and pumps chemical materials.

    ·        Proper monitoring of processing steps to ensure product quality, lot consistency and yields.

    ·        May calculate materials needed for reaction.

    ·        Controls process parameters through proper adjustments of feed rates, cooling and/or heating.

    ·        Uses analytical equipment for assessing in-process and final product status. Understands principles of operation of the analytical equipment and, with supervision, interprets results.

    ·        May prepare test results or reports as directed.

    ·        Maintains an organized and clean work area.

    ·        May order equipment and/or raw materials.

    ·        Maintains all necessary production, safety, inventory, training and other records and/or logs as required, in written and/or computer format.

    ·        Complies with all BRI environmental and safety policies and procedures.

    You Offer...

    ·        Knowledge of the principles and techniques of organic and analytical chemistry.

    ·        BS in Chemistry or related field and one to five years’ experience in chemical production work.

    ·        Ability to use interchangeably metric and U.S. standards of weights and measures and its application in determining molar quantities.

    ·        Knowledge of piping and valve operations to control processes.

    ·        Ability to conduct gas chromatographic analyses and interprets results.

    ·        Skill in the operation of chemical production equipment.

    ·        Skill in the use of physical and chemical analyses and interpretation of results.

    Plant Engineer - Bedoukian Research, Inc.

    We Offer...

    An exciting role as Plant Engineer based in our Danbury, Connecticut Production Facility.

    This function involves providing technical support for Production, including design, development, construction and implementation of equipment or technologies. Conducts the evaluation, selection, adaptation, and modification of techniques, procedures, and criteria. This position covers a range of activities including:  

    ·        Coordinates activities of engineering functions and encourages interchange of information, ideas, and techniques among various departments.

    ·        Tests, repairs, maintains, and modifies existing and new equipment.

    ·        Designs, selects, modifies, and builds equipment or procedures necessary to meet specific project requirements. Checks functioning of equipment and evaluates performance.

    ·        Interprets, executes, and coordinates engineering assignments.

    ·        Maintains records in the form of schematics, mechanical drawings, documentary photographs, sketches, databases, and narrative reports.

    ·        Maintains current knowledge regarding relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems. 

    ·        Monitors and maintains optimum performance of all building systems, to include mechanical, electrical/electronic, and advanced air and odor chemical circulation/purification systems.

    ·        Ability to coordinate and/or supervise the activities of independent contractors and employees.

    ·        Complies with local, state and federal laws, policies and regulations.

    ·        Coordinates and supervises all maintenance functions.

    ·        Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

    You Offer...

    ·        Seven + years’ experience in the organic specialty chemical industry.

    ·        M.S. in Chemical Engineering.  

    ·        Well-structured but flexible enough to operate in a dynamic often changing environment with a solution oriented attitude.

    ·        Knowledge of equipment and facilities used in the production and purification of organic chemicals. 

    ·        Demonstrates and applies thorough understanding of engineering methods, protocols, assessment instruments, and data interpretation.

    ·        Provide leadership that will result in positive employee relations and work culture, teamwork, continuous improvement, efficiency and product quality.

    ·        Strong mechanical and/or engineering background.

    ·        Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to write clear, concise business communication for senior management.

    ·        Ability to train, supervise and motivate others, to plan work and delegate effectively. 

    ·        Ability to make evaluative judgments, gather data, compile information and provide concise reports.

    ·        Strong analytical and conceptual skills.

    ·        An open, flexible, team-oriented personality, with the ability to think and act independently.

    ·        Excellent MS Office skills.
