Glen Rock, NJ – Women in Flavor and Fragrance Commerce, Inc. (WFFC) is pleased to announce the 2017 WFFC scholarship award recipients.
Anna Horowitz is the 2017 recipient of the Rita Flynn Memorial Fragrance Scholarship Award. Ms. Horowitz is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in The Science of Perfumery at Brown University, a program which she developed with the Brown faculty. She has interned with the R&D Fragrance Portfolio at International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF). Her goal is to achieve a Master’s degree from the ISIPCA (Institut Supérieur International du Parfum, de la Cosmétique et de L’aromatique Alimentaire) in Scent Design and Creation. Ms. Horowitz volunteers her time as a board member for Brown University Students, Brown University Broadcasting and Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.
Christina Chen is the 2017 recipient of the WFFC Flavor Scholarship Award. Ms. Chen is a student at Cornell University majoring in Food Science. She has been selected for two consecutive internships at Takasago International Corporation. There she gained valuable experiences in flavor creation, food science and product development. In 2015, she joined an Institute of Food Technologies Student Association (IFTSA) team competition with a challenge to create a calcium rich food product for women living in the Middle East and North Africa. The result was an ingenious use of egg shells in dough for couscous. Ms. Chen has also actively participated in Cornell University’s Dairy Products Sensory Team and won the 2014-2015 Ocean Spray product development competition.

The WFFC, Inc. was founded in 1982 by women employed in various capacities in the U.S. flavor and fragrance industry. This organization was borne out of a recognized need for a networking, education and support system for women in our industry. Our mission has been and remains to this day to provide a center of education, camaraderie, support and networking opportunities for women in our industry. Our membership encompasses women involved in sales, purchasing, customer service as well as technical careers.
